In line with the new mayor’s motto of “Sell Goods, Welcome People, Prosperous Kaohsiung”, the Agriculture Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government dedicates its efforts to the promotion of sustainable agriculture, the development of refined agriculture, and the establishment of LOHAS farm villages, seeking to realize the vision of “Happy Farmers.” The area dedicated to growing crops in Kaohsiung takes up roughly 16% of the entire municipality’s land, making the city an important producer of fruits and vegetables. In recent years, the agency has incorporated the key focuses of circular economy and conducted research and development on agricultural wastes to tap upon its lucrative potentials. The Agriculture Bureau hopes to integrate the advantages of agricultural technology with geographical traits and conditions of the municipality to create a prosperous future for the agricultural industry of Greater Kaohsiung.
